A day late and a silver dollar pancake short...

Happy Belated Pancake Day! I know, I know... I'm a little late. Oh well. The hubs has the day off and so this morning I made him a fantastic pancake breakfast for the occasion. Chocolate chip, blueberry and buttermilk were on the menu. Yum. I just love food celebrations.

Sunshine Oatmeal

I found this recipe on Pinterest (join me there, won't ya) and decided I would try it out. Thank goodness I did.  Trust me, you'll greatly enjoy.

Sunshine Oatmeal
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/3 cup granola cereal (Honey/Almond Flax)
1/4 cup boiling water (You may need more/less depending on how you like it)
1 tsp. brown sugar (I added a little more. Ooppss!)
1 tsp. honey
Dash of cinnamon
Dash of sea salt

I heart vacation.

So today I went a little cray-cray (nuts) cleaning and decorating our home with smells and sights of spring! Yayy for sunshine and warm weather in New England! Fresh flowers and new candles (Yankee Candle Midsummer's Night & Pink Sands) are making me swoon over here. I just love flowers on our kitchen table and in the powder room. They just give the most perfect touch of happiness...not to mention they make a room smell amazing!

I also took Brooklyn on a nice, long walk around our little neighborhood and for a drive around town for a quick coffee run. She loved every minute...and so did I. I have to say...I would reallly make a greattttt stay at home mom...well, a stay at home girl. Ha! I wishhhhh--a girl can dream. Hey, at least I can pretend and enjoy my vacation days at home with my best gal, all while making things beautiful for the hubs. Nothing beats it. Absolutely loved today.

My Morning Girl

Good morning, friends! Take a look at my little monster. What a ham! She has been loving all of the attention she is getting this week since I've been home on vacation. What a little lovebug. Have a happy day. xo

Red Carpet Recap

Some of the most adored dresses/women/men of the 2012 Academy Awards...

Michelle Williams...My favorite of the night! Longing for her pixie cut (if only I had the guts).

Jessica Chastain...love her red hair and loose wave style

Ellie Kemper...beautiful sparkle...wanting her red hair...let's talk the Mr. into it, people!

Rose Byrne...sexy & classic...great earrings

Milla Jovovich...white sparkle with red lips

Gwyneth Paltrow... chic, chic, chic, holy chic.

Cameron D...so sleek and feminine...love the ruffles!

Giuliana Rancic...love the cap sleeve with hair pulled back...elegant!

George Clooney...what a hunk. My guy of the night!

Ryan Seacrest...always adorable.

P.Diddy...always looks so put together and tidy, yes tidy.

Sorry hunnies, to me, you missed the mark...

Sacha Baron Cohen...what a meanie!

Penelope Cruz...so sexy & gorgeous but this dress is too old for her...it does fit her very well though!

Emma Stone...I love her, she's amazing and so talented but I just didn't love this choice for her at all!  Kind of boring for such a fun girl.

Rooney Mara...I love that she switched it up and wore white and quite honestly, the dress looks perfect on her. I just find the whole bust line to be a little funky.

Some of the major trends hitting the red carpet were bangs, red lips, white/neutral dresses, sparkle and side swept hair.  As you can see above, my personal favorites include lots of sparkle and neutral tones. I can't wait to try some of these trends over here...oh wait, what? I'm not made of a million dollars and have nowhere this fancy to go? What? Me? Please. ;)

the boys and the girls

This video has been cracking me up for just about a week now. I love her overall passion and outlook. Too cute for words!

She reminds me of someone I know veryyy well actually (that's me in the middle, sister left, cousin right)...What do we think...look alike or what? ;)

Shhh...pass it on.

I was touched by a random act of kindness today. I am so thankful for the sweet, caring words written by one of my teacher friends in a thoughtful note. She put a smile on my face and warmed my heart. I am so grateful to be surrounded by such loving people in my life. ((Thank You)) dear friend. I will be sure to pay it forward. xo

Seeing Double

I think I have a problem over here, friends. I always knew my shopping love addiction was a little bit out of control, but this morning as I was rummaging through my closet, my every doubt was most definitely reconfirmed... I have a doubling issue, a twin complex if you wish, a case of multiple madness. Catch my drift?

When I shop, I buy everything in two's. I simply can not buy just one thing. Even if I go into a store for one of something, I simply HAVE to purchase two. Also, if I really fall in love with an item, I must buy it in two colors. Not ever three or four but two! Complex? I think yes.

I noticed this little tid-bit of information this morning as I was trying on my outfit choices for the day. I picked up a shirt and realized that I had worn the same shirt in a different color a couple days prior. Different shirt, same style...what to do (big issue, huh)? I put it back on the hanger floor and continued on to the next.

I find that when I purchase a twin of something, I limit myself and my choices. I work at a school with all women, people. We pay attention to these things! I would hate to be a repeating offender! Picking out my attire is one part of my crazy day (hanging with 6/7 year olds) that I can actually control and I'm not about to give that up or limit its overall pleasure.

Some may think that this is a superficial and insignificant topic to write about, but hey, I needed a silly, little pick me up after the week I've had annnnnd besides, it's fun and so very true! I would love to hear opinions...what do we think about this...am I a nut...is this normal...thoughts? xo

in a funk

Ugh. This week did not start off as I had planned. At the moment, I am feeling discouraged and quite honestly, sad- just plain, old sad. Have you ever had one of those days? weeks? slumps? I am usually a pretty happy person and love to find other ways to distract myself from the stresses of life. Today, I may pick a few of these little suggestions to help with some motivation. Cupcakes may be first on my list. They always seem to have a way of making even the most terrible days seem just a little bit sweeter. xo

Anniversary Weekend

Photos by Jay Drinker, Drinker Images

This weekend DJ and I will celebrate our one year anniversary. We will be going to the country club where we had our cozy winter wedding last year for a romantic dinner/night out. Bliss. I can't wait.

Wow. How time flies. I can still feel the anxious excitement I had last year at this time. The anticipation for such a special event that could not have played out any better. Our wedding was more than I could ever dream of. I am so thankful for the amazing memories of that day and look forward to all that is to come...

My love: This year has brought so many new changes and experiences that I wouldn't change or alter...not even for a second. I have loved being a wife, your partner in crime and your friend. I love our conversations and the way you make me laugh...even when I don't feel like it, you can always get me to crack a smile. I appreciate your patience and understanding with me in difficult times of trouble and discouragement...you always put things into a different light that sometimes I just can't see. I am so thankful for the way you treat those that I love like they are your own...you fit perfectly with all of us and in return they adore you, as well. I savor each and every lazy day we have together and the busy ones, too. I can only hope that I have also made this year just as perfect for you. I love you with all of my heart...happy anniversary. xo
